Meet Stella and Teddy

Stella and Teddy are ten-pound Shih-Tzus, who are professional therapy dogs who have each earned the Canine Good Citizen designation by the American Kennel Club. They have been extensively trained to be well-behaved.

Without direction, they will frequently sense emotional moods and may respond by moving closer to you. At those times, you may identify (or share with the group) the feelings that one of them sensed. As a younger dog, Teddy is especially friendly and may engage you more energetically. Read more about them and the work of a professional therapy dog in the next pages.

Say Hi To Stella!

Stella is the older of my two therapy dogs. She was born in 2011 went through individualized private training as early as eight weeks old and earned the American Kennel Club designation of Distinguished Therapy Dog

Throughout the years, Stella and I have presented numerous workshops to clinicians who would like to conduct ethical canine-assisted psychotherapy sessions.

Get To Know Teddy!

Teddy, born in 2016, is the younger of the two. He happily attends all individual, couples, and group sessions and picks up on different emotional states than Stella. He may want to interact by bringing a toy directly to you. Now and again, he will hop up on a lap.

His engagement in the session can clarify your mood and the dynamics of the moment.
